“In September of 2016, Douglas Construction Company, working for a general contractor hired by our company, Ecos Energy, performed the site work for a 26-acre solar facility, located in Spencer, Massachusetts. The project had been originally awarded to an alternate general contractor and earthwork contractor earlier that summer, however the project ran into several permitting and contractual issues with this chosen contractor, and ultimately, we parted ways. Approximately 1 month of construction time was lost while searching for a new contractor. As a result, the project was in danger of sitework delay. Douglas Construction was brought into the project by a new general contractor, mobilized on time, and complete the work expeditiously. The site work components consisted of approximately 10,000 cu. yd. mass earthwork, the construction of 6 extensive detention basins, an 1800 LF access road and conveyance swales associated with the impervious areas. Douglas Construction coordinated well with other subcontractors to allow for the solar racking install follow closely behind the phased site work completion (approximately 5 acres were to be exposed per phase).
Douglas is returning to the site this winter, to finalize the install of a complex pond outlet structure for an adjoining property owner because of easement obligations between Ecos and that adjacent landowner. Ecos went back to Douglas Construction to perform this task knowing that it would be installed correctly and as planned in a town with stringent stormwater regulations. My working relationship with Mr. Durgarian and his field staff has been professional, honest and respectful and we would do business with them again.
